In this program, statisticians in Barcelona use statistical models to trace the cause of asthma outbreaks. Data gathered from hospital admission records is placed on a time series clock, from which times, frequency, and general locations of outbreaks are plotted. Calculations pinpoint serious outbreaks to a specific waterfront district. When dried soybean shells are found in the district, statisticians check dock manifests and discover that large soybean deliveries occurred on those days.
